Adjunct Janet Barker-Evans Selected as Charles S. Downs Response Marketer of the Year

The Charles S. Downs Response Marketer of the Year is the most prestigious recognition from the Chicago Association of Direct Marketing (CADM)

The Chicago Association of Direct Marketing (CADM) selected adjunct faculty member Janet Barker-Evans as the 2018 Charles S. Downs Response Marketer of the Year. She was honored along with other marketing leaders at the CADM's annual Tempo Awards Gala on June 21, 2018.

Named after the late advertising director of Abbott Laboratories, the prestigious Charles S. Downs award recognizes the exceptional career, leadership and mentorship achievements of one individual in the Chicago marketing community. In selecting a recipient for the award, the CADM Tempo committee also considers the charitable and volunteer work that the individual contributes to their community.

Janet Barker-Evans teaches as an adjunct faculty member for the Public Relations and Advertising and Digital Communication and Media Arts programs. She is currently SVP, executive creative director at Epsilon and has worked for a variety of agencies throughout her career, including Draft, FCB and Ryan Partnership. In addition to receiving numerous creative awards throughout her career, she also serves as a judge and speaker at industry forums, award shows and conferences. Barker-Evans also sits on the Board of Advisors of Little City Foundation, a non-profit that serves the needs of adults and children who have developmental disabilities.

Janet Barker-Evans holds a bachelor’s degree in journalism from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale and a master’s degree in media communications from Governors State University.​​
