2020 Excellence in Teaching Awards

Congratulations to Senior Professional Lecturer Jim Motzer, the 2020 recipient of the Quality of Instruction Council Excellence in Teaching Award for Term Faculty in the College of Communication. Motzer’s students appreciated his dedication to their success, as expressed in one of many nominations: “…He checked in with every student to talk about life, work and anything else…His feedback is especially helpful because it is thorough and comprehensive. He ensured that every student understood the material and was getting everything they could out of his class.” Motzer retired from the Public Relations and Advertising program in Spring 2020.


Congratulations to Assistant Professor Kendra Knight​, the 2020 recipient of the Quality of Instruction
Kendra Knight
Council Excellence in Teaching Award for Tenured/Tenure-Track Faculty in the College of Communication. Knight was recognized for her teaching style and creating an inclusive learning environment. “She creates an atmosphere of respect in her classroom where sharing and participation is not only encouraged but actually practiced,” one student nominator shared. “What and honor to have had her as a professor not once but twice, and yet not enough times.” Knight teaches courses in communication studies and communication and media.
