Complete Your Degree: Master’s Thesis/Project/Exam

​​​Degree Completion Options

Students choose from the following degree completion options: comprehensive exam, master’s thesis or master’s project. Students must have a 3.75 cumulative GPA to be eligible to complete the master’s thesis or master’s project. 

When you are ready to choose your degree completion option, you must complete this form​ and receive approval from the Graduate Program Director.

Comprehensive Exam

Students complete an essay addressing reflective questions. This comprehensive exam essay is take-home and open book. It is completed in a student’s graduating quarter.

Master’s Thesis

One thesis course replaces a communication and media elective class, becoming the 12th and final course taken in the program. The student will produce a written piece of original academic scholarship on a subject of the student’s choosing.

Master’s Project

One project course replaces a communication and media elective class, becoming the 12th and final course taken in the program. The student will create an original project and an accompanying written report/analysi​s.
