CMN Faculty, Staff Run Chicago Marathon

Four members of the College of Communication's faculty and staff participated in this year's Chicago Marathon, an annual 26.2 mile-run.

Associate Professor Tim Cole (finished in 3:32:09), Instructor Stephanie Howell (finished in 7:14:11), Director of Academic Advising Ginny Rowe (finished in 4:45:47) and Academic Advisor Katie Walsh (finished in 5:35:08) ran the marathon on Sunday, October 9, 2011.

The considerable run kicks off in Grant Park, makes its way past our Loop campus, extends north of our Lincoln Park campus up to Addison, doubles back down into the West Loop and eventually makes its wending way down to Bronzeville before finishing up again in Grant Park.

"This is the first time I've ran the Chicago Marathon," Rowe said, "It's one of those things I've always wanted to do. I'd done a half-marathon before, and it just seemed like it was the right time to do the full… I wanted to accomplish the biggest challenge I could when it came to running."

When asked how it felt to reach the South Loop and cross the finish line, Rowe said, "It felt great! At the end you forget how hard it was while you were doing it. I felt great and also relieved."
