​​​​​Stefanie Demetriades is an assistant professor of communication, teaching courses in health communication, persuasion, media and technology, and intercultural communication.                             

Her research is focused on communication interventions to advance health equity among marginalized and vulnerable communities. She has a broad background in communication, with specific training and experience in strategies to effectively communicate risk and promote engagement with uncomfortable information that people may resist or shy away from. With an emphasis on cultural aspects of health and communication, much of her work involves engaging populations from diverse cultural, ethnic, and national backgrounds. 

Stefanie holds a PhD in communication from the University of Southern California (USC), as well as a master's degree in public diplomacy and a BA in international relations, also from USC. Prior to joining DePaul in 2022, she was Co-Director of Northwestern University's Center for Media Psychology and Social Influence (COM-PSI) and a research fellow at the Northwestern COVID-19 Vaccine Communication and Evaluation Network (CoVAXCEN).
