Carol McGury holds an MEd in counseling/college student development from DePaul University and a BA in English with a minor in Italian from Loyola University. She currently teaches Introduction to Mass Media at the College of Communication as well as writing, critical thinking and research seminar at DePaul’s School for Continuing and Professional Studies. She has also taught Italian at St. Mary’s College in Notre Dame, IN.
Carol has a wide variety of interests in film and cultural studies, especially the work of the great Italian directors of the 20th Century. She is also a fan of modern British theatre and the current golden age of television in the United States. She is interested in the art of communication in all its formats. In addition to teaching, Carol has extensive experience in the publishing industry and has served as a conduit for effective communication between supervisors and employees in various government and corporate settings. An enthusiastic traveler, Carol’s journeys have informed her interactions with the diverse environment at DePaul and the city of Chicago.
Ms. McGury has found her work with DePaul students to be both intellectually stimulating and personally satisfying. She considers her ability to help students to overcome obstacles to learning and growth to be an integral part of her work. She expects active participation from all her students and challenges them to read/watch/listen consciously and closely.
