Marisela Chavez

​Marisela Chavez received her MA in screen cultures from Northwestern University and her BA in rhetoric and media studies from UC Berkeley. She teaches courses on diversity and inclusion in media, television history, reality television, media aesthetics, and celebrity studies.

Her dissertation examines sports television in order to explore and complicate the relationship between television theory and race. She is especially interested in the cultural and political work done by athletes of color.
