Benjamin Aspray received his MA from Northwestern University’s Screen Cultures program and his BA in English and film from the University of California, Berkeley. He teaches courses on media theory, film criticism, film aesthetics, film and television comedy, and digital media culture.
His dissertation research concerns spectacle and disgust in film and television comedy from the mid-1990s through the early 2010s. He has written on Internet trolls, fatsuit performances, death metal, and bike safety films, among other varied topics.
