New Journalism Faculty McCray Wins Emmy Award for Conservation Doc

Judith McCray, adjunct faculty member in undergraduate Journalism and Media and Cinema Studies, received an Emmy Award for her documentary, Chicago’s True Nature: The Forest Preserves of Cook County, by the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences’ Chicago Midwest Chapter.

Chicago’s True Nature was created in partnership with the Forest Preserves of Cook County and WYCC PBS Chicago. The film has played on WYCC and also screened at Navy Pier’s IMAX Theatre.

The Forest Preserves of Cook County describes the hour-long documentary as a film that, “captures the sights and sounds within the Forest Preserves as it marked its 100th anniversary throughout 2015. Audiences will see and learn about the benefits of nature, the impact of open land to our quality of life and what lies ahead in the next century for the one of the oldest and largest forest preserve systems in the nation.”

The film’s trailer can be viewed below.

Congratulations Judith and welcome to DePaul and the College of Communication.
