​​​​​​​​​As a bridge between the academic and professional world, the Center for Journalism Integrity & Excellence brings the latest voices in journalism to campus to share insights from the industry. The center also honors two journalists each year for their contributions to the field.

Through these events and lectures, the center aims to provide students and professionals with relevant skills and insights to apply in their reporting.

Amy Walter, political analyst and editor-in-chief of the Cook Political Report with Amy Walter, will be honored with the Distinguished Journalist Award from DePaul University’s Center for Journalism Integrity & Excellence. Haley BeMiller, a 2014 DePaul alumna, will receive the Distinguished Alumna Award, and former professional lecturer Rick Brown will receive the Distinguished Mentor Award. Read more​.

One of the center's newest initiatives, the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) Fellows program provides FOIA training for early-career journalists who work at small news organizations in the Midwest.
