 College of Communication Combined Degree Programs

About the Combined Degree Program

DePaul’s combined bachelor’s + master’s degree programs allow you to earn both your undergraduate and graduate degrees in as few as five years (rather than the traditional six or more). The courses you’ll take during your senior year will count toward both your bachelor’s and master’s program, saving you time and money, moving you seamlessly from your undergraduate classes right into your graduate coursework.

After consulting with your academic advisor, you'll apply to the Graduate Admission Office during your Junior year for your chosen combined degree program. Once accepted, you will be able to enroll in up to three graduate level courses during your Senior year. After completing all bachelor's degree requirements, you will matriculate as a graduate student and finish the remaining coursework for your chosen master's degree. 

All DePaul undergraduate bachelor's degree program can be combined with any of the below College of Communication master's programs:

A Typical Schedule

For Combined Degree Students

Senior year
Fall quarter: Take one graduate course
Winter quarter: Take one graduate course
Spring quarter: Take one graduate course 

At the end of the term, undergraduate degree requirements are complete and you matriculate as a graduate student in the fall quarter.

Fifth/Graduate year*
Fall quarter: Take three graduate courses
Winter quarter: Take three graduate courses
Spring quarter: Take three graduate courses
 

*Please note that the DCMD MA requires 10–11 courses in the fifth/graduate year.

The Double Demon Scholarship

Available for Combined Degree Students

Alumni from any of DePaul’s colleges admitted into a graduate degree program in the College of Communication are eligible for the Double Demon Scholarship. Combined degree program students are also eligible.

The Double Demon Scholarship covers 25% of the tuition for a master’s degree in the College of Communication. Both full-time and part-time students are eligible. No scholarship application is required; all alumni admitted to these programs as of the winter quarter of 2014 qualify.
