Graciela Kenig manages the communication Internship Program for graduate and undergraduate students. Working closely with employers and faculty, she creates internship opportunities in fields such as broadcast, print and online media, film, public relations, advertising and marketing agencies, small and large corporations, and philanthropic and historically non-profit organizations.
Graciela also designs innovative career management and personal branding courses; recruits, hires and trains adjunct faculty. As well, she provides career advising services to students seeking internships and jobs. Under her strategic and academic leadership, the college program participation has increased by more than 90% in less than four years.
Prior to joining DePaul in 2009, Graciela was a career columnist and management consultant, offering career advice, training and coaching to college students, corporate employees and their supervisors. Her book, Best Careers for Bilingual Latinos: Market Your Fluency in Spanish to Get Ahead on the Job (1998, McGraw-Hill) pioneered the concept of cultural differences in career development. She managed a Q&A board for Monster.com and her articles appeared in the Chicago Tribune and Sun-Times, and in a variety of magazines. She also was a blogger and Multicultural Management Expert for LatPro, one of the largest minority recruitment job boards on the Internet.
Born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, she is Spanish/English bilingual. She loves to travel and has visited numerous countries in Europe, the Middle East, Latin and Central America, along with several Caribbean and Pacific islands. She holds a Master of Arts Degree in Spanish Literature from Kent State University in Ohio, and a BS in Education from Bowling Green State University, also in Ohio.
