Luis Agostini is an Adjunct Faculty member of the Public Relations and Advertising (PRAD) program at DePaul University.
Luis's communications experience spans nearly 25 years across agency, government and military sectors. During his 12 years as a United States Marine, Luis was recognized for excellence in military journalism. He was selected as the Marine Corps Print Journalist of the Year in 2004, 2005 and 2010, as well as the Department of Defense Print Journalist of the Year in 2010.
Upon his honorable discharge from the Marine Corps, Luis accepted a position with the Media Services team at Edelman Chicago in January 2013, where he developed and executed earned media strategy for large brands and organizations across a broad spectrum of client sectors including tech, agriculture, hospitality, wealth management, nonprofit and healthcare.
In 2017, Luis accepted a position with Agency H5 as the agency's Media Director, overseeing media strategy for the boutique agency's food, CPG and hospitality clients.
In 2018, Luis joined the McDonald's team at Golin as a traditional connector, developing and executing earned media strategy for McDonald's food journey stories.
Desiring a return to public service, Luis joined the Chicago Police Department's Office of Communications and News Affairs as an Assistant Director of Communications in October 2018. With a primary focus on police reform, Luis drove development of executive positioning, thought leadership and speechwriting for command staff leadership, provided media training and presentation coaching for command staff leadership and managed proactive and reactive media relations efforts on behalf of the Chicago Police Department.
Luis accepted the role of his current position with the DEA in July 2021. As the public information officer for the DEA Chicago Field Division, Luis manages all external communications, including conducting proactive media outreach and directly participating in on-camera and on-the-record media interviews, preparing executive leadership for media engagements and managing the Division's social media channels.
A proud DePaul University Double Demon, Luis earned an MBA in Brand and Product Management from DePaul's Kellstadt Graduate School of Business in 2016, along with a BA in Public Relations and Advertising in 2013.
