Ilana Emmett received her MA in film and television studies from the University of Warwick and her BA in cinema and media studies from the University of Chicago. Her teaching interests include film and television analysis, broadcast history, sound studies, disability and media, transmediality, and religion and media.
Her dissertation research is on the visual and aural aesthetics of American daytime soap operas and their relationship to gender and medial shifts. Before returning to the academic world, she also worked in television production, primarily in reality TV.
