  • Areas of Expertise: Generational communication
Debra Bethard-Caplick is a founding partner of Quicksilver Edge Strategic Communications, a public relations firm providing veteran expertise to clients ranging from health care to governmental organizations that need to communicate with specific generational groups. Quicksilver Edge got its start in an online discussion on ageism in the public relations profession, and resulted in three “overqualified” industry veterans launching the firm. The name, Quicksilver, is a humorous nod to the evolving hair color of the partners and the firm’s responsiveness.

Debra blogs on the foibles of the public relations profession at www.APRwriter.com, In addition to her client work, she is a past chair of the PRSA Midwest District and currently president of PRSA Suburban Chicago. She volunteers as an accreditation coach. She is also a life member of the International Association of Business Communicators, and is the Immediate Past Chief Ambassador of the Illinois Jaycees, an organization that helps young people develop leadership skills through community service. She also collects memorabilia on PR history.

Debra earned her BS degree from Illinois State University in 1988, and her MS in Management-Public Relations and -MBA degrees the University of Maryland in 2007.
