Sherri Ter Molen

Sherri L. Ter Molen has taught Intercultural Communication, Business and Professional Communication, and Communication and Small Group Decision-Making. Her research centers on the complicated, mediated relationships between the divided Koreas and the United States.

In 2014, Ter Molen received the Korean American Communication Association Outstanding Graduate Student Award, and she currently serves as the organization's co-Facebook administrator. In addition, she is the outreach coordinator for a web journal that focuses on China-North Korea borderland issues known as Sino-NK, and she has managed the public relations for programs organized by Engage Korea, a group of scholars and practitioners who are interested in humanitarian efforts in North Korea.

She earned a BA in interdisciplinary communications from Olivet College in 1994 and an MA in Organizational and Multicultural Communication from DePaul University in 2009. She is currently a doctoral candidate in the Department of Communication at Wayne State University. In addition to her academic career, she has over twenty years of professional experience in advertising, broadcasting, journalism, marketing, public relations, social media, and video production.

Ter Molen is also active in the “Koreanophile” (fans of Korean culture) community, and she serves as the organizer of both the Chicago Korean Language Meetup Group as well as the Metro Detroit Korean Meetup Group. She is always happy to offer recommendations to those wanting to try Korean food or who would like to watch their first Korean television drama.
