Program Concentrations

​Students pursuing the MA in Communication and Media Students must declare one of the following concentrations when admitted into the program. Students have the option to declare a second concentration with the graduate advisor after they have begun graduate coursework.

Media and Cinema Studies Concentration
The Media and Cinema Studies concentration focuses on the critical skills, historical grounding, and research methodologies for understanding the cultural and social impact of film, television and digital media in our globalized society.

Multicultural Communication Concentration
The Multicultural Communication concentration focuses on the dynamics of communication across cultures. It explores not only what happens when people of two different cultures meet, but also what happens when people from a variety of cultures and ethnicities come together in one organization, community or country.

Organizational Communication Concentration
The Organizational Communication concentration focuses on communication challenges specific to business and organizational settings. It helps students to understand and manage the broad communication processes within organizations while enabling them to develop their individual skills as communicators.

Relational Communication Concentration
The Relational Communication concentration focuses on communication across a variety of interpersonal contexts (i.e. close relationships, family communication, workplace relationships).
