DePaul University grad student Jessica Cowin (BSC ’08) shares the intimate details of her journey managing a serious medical condition and her fight to survive in the memoir The Hearts of a Girl: The Journey Through Congenital Heart Disease and Heart Transplant
, her new book from Morgan James Publishing.
Born with congenital heart disease, Jessica and her family faced the daunting challenge of navigating treatment options, which ultimately included both heart and kidney transplants. Jessica shares these experiences, revealing insights on her determination to survive despite many hurdles through recovery.
Currently studying Health Communication
in the College of Communication, Jessica is an advocate for families facing CHD and organ transplants and hopes to raise awareness for those confronting similar situations.
