Operation Walk Chicago proudly announces that Professor Donald Martin
, associate dean and director of graduate studies in the DePaul University College of Communication, has joined the Board of Directors of Operation Walk Chicago
Operation Walk Chicago is a private, 501c3 not-for-profit, volunteer organization that provides comprehensive, state-of -the-art free hip and knee replacements for impoverished patients with debilitating joint disease, while educating local healthcare professionals. Established in 2005, Operation Walk Chicago has performed surgeries on patients in many developing countries — China, India, Ecuador, Nepal — and in Chicago.
On December 7, 2012, in partnership with Skokie Hospital and NorthShore University Health System, Operation Walk Chicago offered again joint replacement to the uninsured in Chicago. This was being organized as part of an initiative called Operation Walk USA, in which hospitals across the country simultaneously offer a day of free surgeries for the poor.
Prof. Martin's partnership with Operation Walk Chicago is an extension of our Health Communication
program and our university's Vincentian mission in action.
