Christen Embry is an adjunct professor in the College of Communication, teaching Public Speaking and Intercultural Communication. In addition to teaching at DePaul, Embry works as an adjunct at two other universities, teaching classes focused on pop culture, media, and other communication studies.

Prior to entering education, Embry worked in many different aspects of communication, including journalism, public relations, small business marketing and trade show management. She brings her experience into the classroom.

Embry successfully defended her dissertation, Integrating Media Literacy into Undergraduate Core Classes, in October 2022, earning the title of Doctor of Education. She has been married since 1993 and has a daughter who graduated from University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign with a degree in agricultural and biological engineering.
