Our lives are built around relationships. I​​​n the Relational Communication program, you will develop skills necessary to analyze communication used in personal and professional relationships. Courses blend theory with practical information, giving you necessary skills and knowledge to succeed in a variety of professional settings.

As a Relational Communication major, you will have the opportunity to take a variety of courses covering a broad range of topics, or take courses that are closely related to your specific area of interest. Courses include:

Through coursework, group projects, internships and independent study projects, you will learn to express yourself well in oral and written communications as well as develop critical thinking skills necessary to analyze communication events from a variety of perspectives.
 
The Relational Communication program also offers a Latino Media and Communication concentration that focuses on developing awareness and an appreciation of Latino cultures in the U.S., both of which are necessary to create communication strategies that effectively reach Latino populations. Courses for the Latino Media and Communication concentration include those from Public Relations and Advertising, Intercultural Communication, Journalism, and Media and Cinema Studies programs.
