The Master of Arts in Relational Communication program will provide students with an understanding of communication across a variety of interpersonal contexts (i.e., close relationships, family communication, workplace relationships). The program is designed to help students learn how to effectively pursue their professional and personal goals through interpersonal communication.

Through a blend of theory and practice, students will identify, analyze and understand how to manage relationships in both personal and professional contexts.  This program will be of interest to individuals who either want to pursue an advanced graduate degree or are interested in a broad range of careers including management, consulting, conflict negotiation, career/life coaching and human resources development.

Students will have the opportunity to take courses covering a broad range of topics:

  • Business and professional communication
  • Family communication
  • Gendered communication
  • Intercultural communication
  • Interpersonal communication
  • Nonverbal communication
  • Small group communication

Flexibility and Convenience

DePaul’s quarter system lets you work at your own pace; by taking two classes per quarter, you’ll earn an M.A. in two years. If your schedule allows you to take more than two classes per quarter, you can finish even faster.
