When Michael Jordan Cries, So Cries the Internet

Jordan Crying Meme
Professor Paul Booth (Media and Cinema Studies), an expert on communication via social media and memes, explains how Michael Jordan’s emotional 2009 interview went viral, and how memes in general spread through the Internet.

WGN reports, "It was 2009 when Michael Jordan took the stage at his Basketball Hall of Fame induction ceremony. It was there he offered a rare display of emotion. One of the greatest competitors in sports history moved to tears.

"That moment was captured on video, but also in a photograph from the Associated Press. Six years after it was snapped, this photograph has taken on a life of its own."
