Our graduate Health Communication
Chair and Professor Elissa Foster
will be joining other healthcare experts to discuss the Affordable Healthcare Act in a panel this Thursday, March 19, from 5:30-8:30 p.m.
The event, "Making the ACA Affordable", will be hosted by the Healthcare Businesswomen's Association (HBA) in the AON Building (200 E. Randolph, 55th Floor).
HBA describes the night's discussion, Q&A and networking opportunity as follows:
Join us for a panel discussion and knowledge sharing session focused on the impact of the Affordable Care Act across the healthcare industry. The intent of the ACA was to provide more people with affordable health care coverage and as a result, receive improved medical care. However, the transition still requires significant changes to the health care model where expansion of Medicaid and an increase in financial assistance programs remain key to supporting broad implementation.
Panel members representing healthcare plans, healthcare providers, academia and patient perspectives will discuss how these changes drive the way healthcare operates today. In addition, the panel will review progress made to date, more than one year after enacting the ACA and discuss opportunities for improvement.
