Chicago Business & Society Immersion Week Class Explores Chicago Neighborhoods

Public Relations and Advertising Professor Matt Ragas’s Discover Chicago class, Chicago Business & Society, volunteered for New Student Service Day at the Chinese American Service League (CASL), the largest employer in Chinatown. This service day marks the end of "Immersion Week" for Discover Chicago classes. All DePaul freshmen take a Discover Chicago or Explore Chicago course during DePaul's Chicago Quarter that kicks off each new academic year.
"Offered during the autumn quarter, Chicago Quarter courses acquaint first-year students at DePaul with the metropolitan community, its neighborhoods, cultures, people, institutions, organizations and issues.  It is through these classes that students make first contact with both the university's urban identity and its Vincentian mission."  — from the Discover & Explore Chicago website
“We had a lot of fun and got in singing, arts and crafts and exercising — all before lunch!" Ragas posted on the class blog. You can see photos of the entire week's experience exploring Chicago cultures and neighborhoods, along with Twitter posts from the students and Prof. Ragas about all they saw and learned during the week.
