There are currently five new tenure-track positions available.

The College of Communication at DePaul University invites applications for five tenure-track positions in its expanding undergraduate and graduate degree programs. All positions begin September 2009. Review of applications begins November 1, 2008.
Located on two vibrant campuses in the heart of Chicago, the newly established College of Communication has 38 full-time faculty serving more than 1200 undergraduate majors in five distinct baccalaureate majors: Communication and Media, Communication Studies, Journalism, Media and Cinema Studies, and Public Relations and Advertising and approximately 175 graduate students in four distinctive MA programs: Media, Culture & Society; Organizational and Multicultural Communication; Journalism; and Public Relations and Advertising.
Poised for further growth, the college now seeks to expand its 38 member faculty with five additional tenure-track faculty in the following areas:



Communication Technologies and New Media
Assistant professor in Communication Technologies and New Media Studies. Successful candidates will have expertise in at least two of the following areas: social networking, media convergence and popular culture, cybercultures, and/or political economy of new media. The College is particularly interested in applicants who will develop curriculum at both the undergraduate and graduate levels that can serve programs in Communication Studies, Media Studies, and Mass Communication. Experience in new media production and design a plus.
Assistant Professor of Communication Technologies and New Media

Intercultural Communication
Assistant professor who specializes in intercultural communication to begin September 2009. Ph.D. preferred. ABD considered. The successful candidate will join a dynamic, growing faculty teaching and developing courses for both graduate (master’s) and undergraduate programs in communication studies. Candidates must possess a strong foundation in traditional intercultural communication theories, research, and social scientific methods. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated strength in both teaching and research in intercultural and multicultural communication. Preference will be given to those applicants who can teach and do research with an emphasis in race/ethnicity studies.

Interpersonal/Relational Communication
Assistant professor position in Interpersonal/Relational Communication. Successful candidates will have teaching and research experience in interpersonal communication. Additional opportunities exist for course development and teaching in secondary areas of specialization. PhD required, although ABD considered.
Assistant Professor Position in Interpersonal/Relational Communication

Media Studies
Assistant professor in Media Studies who will contribute to our growing program in Media and Cinema Studies. Successful candidates will have expertise in at least two of the following areas: television studies, global media, political economy, and/or critical approaches to media institutions. The College is particularly interested in applicants who will develop curriculum at both the undergraduate and graduate level in the areas of television studies, media policy, and/or convergence culture.

Organizational Communication
Assistant professor position in Organizational Communication. Successful candidates will have teaching and research experience in organizational communication. Additional opportunities exist for course development and teaching in secondary areas of specialization. Ph.D. required, although ABD considered.
